Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the name, brand, or model of my gate motor?
Most gate motors will have a label or metal plate on the outside or inside of the motor housing. This typically includes the brand name (e.g. Centsys, Ditec, Nice), the model number (e.g. D5, Robus 400), and sometimes a serial number.
Here’s how to check:
-
Open the motor housing (if safe to do so) using the supplied key.
-
Look on the motor casing or internal components for a label, engraving, or metal plate.
-
Check your original manual or remote—the branding often matches the motor installed.
If you’re not sure, just take a clear photo of the motor and text or email it to us. We’ll help identify it for you.
-
How do I take my gate motor out of gear (manual override)?
Most automatic gate motors can be manually disengaged in case of power failure or for servicing access. The process varies slightly depending on the brand and model, but here’s a general guide:
Centsys D5 Sliding Gate Motor
-
Use the supplied key to unlock and open the motor housing.
-
Locate the round manual release knob (usually grey or black).
-
Turn the knob anti-clockwise until it loosens fully.
-
You can now manually slide the gate open or closed.
-
To re-engage, turn the knob clockwise until tight.
Centsys Swing Gate Motor
Insert the key into the lock on top of the motor and turn. This will immediately release the gate for manual movement.
Italian Brands (Ditec, Nice, ATA, etc.)
-
Use the supplied key or Allen key to unlock and remove the top motor cover.
-
Locate the manual release mechanism—usually a knob, wheel, or lever.
-
Insert the manual release key and turn it anti-clockwise to disengage.
-
The gate can now be operated manually. Re-engage by turning the release clockwise.
Important:
Always ensure the area is safe (no vehicles or people in motion) before disengaging the motor. For older models, especially swing gates, power should be turned off before accessing the unit.

What are your terms and conditions?
Our standard call-out fee is $220, which includes travel and the first hour of labour. Each additional hour is charged at $100. Parts are quoted and billed separately.
To help keep costs down, we schedule jobs by location. If you require a specific arrival time, additional fees may apply.
If you’re not home during the appointment, please either:
Leave the motor in manual mode (out of gear), or leave a remote in a waterproof bag in an agreed safe spot.
If you’re unsure how to take the motor out of gear, just give us a call—we’re happy to assist.
Payment terms: Cash on delivery (COD). Parts supplied remain the property of Gate Motor Repairs until paid in full. Late payments may attract interest at 10% p.a.
Do you offer emergency gate repairs?
Yes, we offer emergency gate motor repairs during business hours (7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday). If your gate has suddenly stopped working, give us a call and we’ll do our best to get to you promptly.
We also offer after-hours emergency service, which is available at an additional cost. If you need urgent help outside of standard hours, contact us and we’ll let you know the next available time and pricing.
Which gate motor brands do you work with?
We work with all major and reputable brands, including Centsys, Ditec, Nice, ATA, Dace, BFT, Beninca, and King Gates.
⚠️ Please note: We do not repair Chinese-made gate motors due to limited parts availability and reliability issues. In these cases, we recommend and offer full motor replacements with trusted brands.
